Preserving the Rich History of Baseball in the Bahamas
Andre Rodgers became the first player from the Islands of the Bahamas to play in the Major Leagues of Baseball. His journey began ten years after Jackie Robinson became the first Black Man to play in the Major Leagues of Baseball. In 1954 a young Cricket & Softball player from the Bahamas named Andre Rodgers was signed by the New York Giants. And in 1957 he became a Major Leaguer. His career spanned eleven years at the major league level.
