Wenty Ford became the first player from the Islands of the Bahamas to pitch in the Major Leagues of Baseball. In the year in which the Bahamas gained independents was also the year Wenty Ford pitched in his first major league game. Against the San Francisco Giants, on September 10th, 1973. Pitching a complete game for a 10 - 4 win. Ford also picked up his first career MLB hit, while giving up runs all earned, and shelling out 5 hits, 6 walks, and three strikeouts. Wenty Ford pitch in 4 four games in September that year, finishing with a 1 and 2 wins/lost record. Loses came from The Cincinnati Reds and the Houston Astros. He also pitched two innings against San Diego Padres, a game in which the Braves lost 9 - 4. Wenty Ford played 10 years in the minor leagues of baseball before returning home to the Bahamas where he started coaching and managing local baseball.
