Preserving the Rich History of Baseball in the Bahamas                        

In the Spring of  1954 Andre Rodgers became the first Bahamian to sign a contract to play in the

Minor Leagues of Baseball, and when on to play Major League by 1957 with the New York Giants,

and in 1958 the team moved to San Francisco so Andre was an original San Francisco Giants.

Edison Armbrister was the only Bahamian to play in an World Series with the Cincinnati Reds, “The

Big Red Machine, he was traded to the Reds in 1971 from the Astros

From March 1954 to September 2015, over 53 known Bahamians played Professional Baseball

With the first Bahamian being drafted in June 1986 by the Baltimore Orioles Ken Adderley, the

Bahamas has had two player Drafted Multiple times, Antoan Richardson, 2001 Baltimore, 2002

Baltimore, 2004 Arizona Diamond Backs and in 2005 the San Francisco Giants. Albert Cartwright,

2006 The New York Mets, and in 2007 The Houston Astros, the Bahamas had it most minor league

signing in 2015 with seven players signing, one in the 2015 MLB June Draft and 6 international

signings.

SINCE 1954 BAHAMIANS PLAYED PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL
 The color barrier in Major League Baseball was broken in 1947 by Jackie Robinson with the then  Brooklyn Dodgers. Seven years later the Baseball Association was organize in August 1954 in Nassau,  and so seven years later after  Jackie Robinson Broke through the color barrier of Baseball in 1947   Andre Rodgers was sign to a Minor League Baseball Team in the Giants organization. Many other  Bahamians started playing in the Minor Leagues of Baseball some of whom only played the game for  less than 5 years ever. in the 1960s and 1970s many Bahamians were in the Minor leagues of Baseball.

The Growth of the Sport of Baseball in the Bahamas has seen   Major League Baseball Returned to the Islands in the 50s, 60, & 70s Major League Scouts Frequented the Bahamas for local Baseball Talent, starting with Andre Rodger in 1954 with the New York Giants the later moved to San Francisco so Andre was an original San Francisco Giants.  Many Bahamians baseball players followed Andre into Minor and Major League Baseball, Adrian Rodgers in 1956, Antony Curry & Lionel Rodgers in 1957.  In the 60s & 70s  all the way up to 1987 was the years lots of Bahamians went to play the Minor Leagues of Baseball, then a drop of until the Dodgers Signed Jamal Johnson in 1997, three years later the second Bahamian was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2000, Angelo Burrows,and then again in 2005 Antoan Richardson finally signed with the Giants after getting drafted three times before, followed by Albert Cartwright in 2006 and he signed in 2007 with Astros,
